Since 1976, the Warrick County Museum has been bringing the area's rich history to life. The museum, housed in the former Ella Williams School Building, boasts an impressive collection of local artifacts ranging from an original Washington Hand Press (c. 1875) to a Civil War canon.
Visitors can begin their tour on the lower level and enter the Nursery, which contains a vintage collection of
children's clothing, toys and furniture. From there, guests can move on to the Doctor's Office and browse through displays of medical and dental equipment from days long past. Those with a penchant for American history
shouldn't miss the Civil War Room with Margaret Hunter's
portrait of Abraham Lincoln (c. 1863) and its wide
assortment of memorabilia. Also located on the lower level are rooms designated for special rotating exhibits, as well as the Gift Shop.
Guests entering the upper level can view the War and Peace Room. In addition to its military uniforms and other wartime relics, the room contains a vast display of early Warrick County photographs and other civic mementos. The level also includes the Stitchery, Kitchen, life like reproductions of a Victorian Parlor and School Room and a Fine Arts Room showcasing local artists.
