Warrick County, Indiana - Est 1813

Warrick County's many acres of reclaimed strip mine ground make it an ideal location for a multi-use Off-Highway Vehicle Area. One potential site exists along the Warrick/Pike County line - a 5,600 acre property known as Interlake (sometimes referred to as "that other DNR ATV property"). Although 2,000 acres are part of the Sugar Ridge Fish and Wildlife Area, the remaining land could be a multi-use facility similar to Indiana's first OHV property, Redbird.

Unfortunately, Interlake was closed as of February 1, 2006. Efforts are underway at the state and local levels to rehabilitate the property and open it to the public. One such local group, the Warrick County Recreational Development Corporation, is actively working to make the Interlake property a sustainable and protected open space for surrounding communities. The WCRD envisions creating a diversified trail system for ATVs, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, 4x4 trucks, as well as for equestrian trails and even canine field trials.
